Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a proactive Design & Technology Technician for an outstanding secondary school in Maida Vale, West London. You will help run busy design workshops, maintain machinery, and support students in practical DT, Product Design and Engineering lessons.

The role involves preparing materials, ensuring safety, and assisting teachers in delivering hands-on sessions with CAD/CAM technologies. It offers a competitive inner-London scale and long-term, term-time opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a Design & Technology teaching environment or relevant trade background.
• Strong knowledge of workshop machinery and H&S procedures.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software is desirable.
• Excellent organization and independent working ability.

Responsibilities

• Prepare timber, metal, plastics and tools for KS3, GCSE and A‑Level sessions.
• Maintain and safe-operate workshop machinery (band saws, sanders, printers, laser cutters).
• Ensure compliance with DATA safety guidelines across workshops and prep rooms.
• Support teachers and students during practical lessons with demonstrations and guidance.
• Manage department stock levels and place orders for materials and consumables.
