Job summary

Wirral Grammar School for Boys in Wirral seeks a Design Technology Technician to support the DT department and maintain workshops. The role involves preparing teaching materials, setting up equipment, and assisting teachers in lessons.

You will help maintain tools and stock, carry out PAT testing, and ensure compliance with Health & Safety guidelines, working under the Head of Design Technology. Permanent, full-time post with 36 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Experience providing support to a Design Technology Department.
• Experience in PAT testing.
• Experience managing stock of materials and tools.
• Experience checking and maintaining DT workshop tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act.
• Willingness to assist in preparing and developing teaching and learning materials.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for Design Technology and prepare teaching aids, displays, information and materials, under the guidance of the HOD or any member of the department.
• Set up and clear away equipment and keep areas clean and orderly for lessons.
• Check and maintain hand tools, hand power tools and basic machine tools.
• Order materials and equipment and manage stock.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety guidelines in workshops and storage areas.
• Provide practical classroom support under the direction of the DT staff.
