Randstad Education is seeking a DT Technician to support the Design & Technology department in a modern Leeds secondary school. You will prep workshop materials, maintain tools, and assist students under teacher supervision in a safe, organised environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a DT Technician in a school or educational setting.
• Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
• Eligibility to Work full-time in the UK; knowledge of Health and Safety COSHH standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare workshop materials, machinery, and tools for practical DT lessons.
• Maintain, service, and perform routine health and safety checks on workshop machinery and hand tools.
• Monitor and manage department inventory, ordering timber, plastics, and metals as required.
• Support classroom teachers by assisting students with practical techniques and machine operation during lessons.
• Enforce strict Health and Safety, COSHH, and risk assessment standards across all DT facilities.
• Maintain CAD/CAM equipment, 3D printers, and laser cutters, ensuring software and hardware function smoothly.
• Keep all workshops, preparation rooms, and storage areas clean, organised, and secure.
• Dispose of waste materials safely and in accordance with local environmental and school guidelines.
