Job summary

PK Education are recruiting an experienced Design Technology Technician to join a well-established secondary school in Sheffield, starting after October half-term. This full-time temporary position supports a busy DT department and runs until Christmas.

The role focuses on Product Design and Resistant Materials, not Art or Textiles, and includes setting up workshops, preparing materials, and assisting teachers in practical lessons.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Design Technology Technician or in a practical workshop environment.
• Knowledge of Product Design and Resistant Materials.
• Understanding of workshop machinery and safe working practices.
• DBS check or willingness to undergo Enhanced DBS.

Responsibilities

• Support Product Design and Resistant Materials lessons.
• Prepare materials, tools and equipment for DT lessons.
• Set up and maintain workshop machinery and equipment.
• Assist teachers with practical demonstrations and activities.
• Prepare wood, metal, plastics and other materials for projects.
• Maintain stock levels and order materials as required.
• Keep workshops clean, organised and safe for students and staff.
• Carry out routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment.
• Support students with practical projects where appropriate.
• Follow health and safety procedures, including safe machinery operation.
