Job summary

PK Education are recruiting for an experienced Design Technology Technician to join a well-established secondary school in Sheffield, starting immediately after October half-term. The role is full-time and temporary, initially until Christmas, supporting Design Technology lessons and practical work in Product Design and Resistant Materials.

The candidate should have DT workshop experience, knowledge of safe workshop practices, and the ability to prepare materials and maintain equipment.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Design Technology Technician or in a practical workshop environment.
• Strong knowledge of Product Design and Resistant Materials.
• Confident with wood, metal, plastics and workshop tools.
• Experience preparing materials for practical projects and safety checks.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the delivery of Product Design and Resistant Materials lessons.
• Preparing materials, tools and equipment for practical DT lessons.
• Setting up and maintaining workshop machinery and equipment.
• Supporting teachers with practical demonstrations and classroom activities.
• Preparing wood, metal, plastics and other materials for student projects.
• Maintaining stock levels and ordering materials where required.
• Ensuring workshops are clean, organised and safe for students and staff.
• Carrying out routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment.
• Supporting students with practical projects where appropriate.
• Following health and safety procedures, including safe machinery operation.
