Job summary

Flourish Education in Solihull is seeking a Design & Technology Teacher for a welcoming secondary school from January 2027. You will teach across KS3/KS4, covering DT disciplines and potentially Food Technology, with a focus on practical, hands-on learning.

The role requires strong subject knowledge, classroom management, and the ability to assess pupil progress. You will work as a Supply Teacher across DT and Food Tech classes in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Design & Technology Teacher or Food Technology Teacher.
• QTS or ECT.
• Excellent subject knowledge across DT and Food Technology.
• Strong understanding of the National Curriculum for KS3 and KS4.
• Ability to maintain safe working environments during practical lessons.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management.

• Teach materials, resistant materials, textiles, food preparation and nutrition content.
• Follow the National Curriculum and adapt lessons for different learning needs.

Job Role

• Deliver engaging Design & Technology lessons across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4).

• Work confidently as a Supply Teacher across a variety of DT and Food Technology classes.

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience as a Design & Technology Teacher, Food Technology Teacher, DT Teacher, Food Tech Teacher, Secondary Teacher, DT ECT, Food ECT or Supply Teacher.
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Early Career Teacher (ECT).
• Excellent subject knowledge across DT disciplines and Food Technology.
• Strong understanding of the National Curriculum for KS3 and KS4.
• Ability to maintain safe working environments, particularly during practical lessons.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• A passion for delivering hands‑on, high-quality lessons that motivate and challenge pupils.
