Job summary

DHL Supply Chain in Tamworth is seeking a Driver's Mate to assist our drivers in delivering goods safely and on time. The role involves helping with loading, unloading and handling large items for residential deliveries.

Shift patterns are 5 from 7, with Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday; benefits include free parking, 33 days leave, a contributory pension, on-site canteen, and access to staff discounts.

Qualifications

• Physically fit for manual handling and a physically demanding role.
• Experience with coordinating loading large orders for delivery.
• Good organisational skills to manage workload and timing.
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations.
• Previous Driver's Mate experience preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate picking and loading of white goods / furniture onto the vehicle.
• Assist driver with unloading deliveries at residential addresses.
• Stay in touch with the transport team to report issues.
• Complete relevant processes on an electronic handheld device.

A TYPICAL DAY MAY INVOLVE

• Coordinating the picking and loading of white goods / furniture onto your assigned vehicle prior to delivery
• Accompanying and assisting driver with unloading deliveries at residential homes
• Staying in touch with the transport team to advise of any problems
• Completing relevant processes on an electronic handheld device

THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT PEOPLE WHO

• Are physically fit as the role involves lots of manual handling
• Have previous experience of working with volume orders
• Have excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage their own workload
• Can perform simple maths calculations
• Previous experience as a Driver's Mate, within a similar environment would be ideal but isn't a deal breaker!
