Job summary

Driver Hire Bury St Edmunds & Ipswich is seeking a Driver's Mate in Ipswich to start ASAP. The role offers £13.50–£15 per hour with a guaranteed 10 hours per day, working Monday to Friday from around 5am to 6am, assisting workshop waste HGV drivers with manual tasks. 28 days holiday prorated on PAYE and potential upskilling to HGV/ADR/HIAB after probation.

This temporary position is commutable from nearby areas. A referral bonus is available for introducing a friend to the company.

Responsibilities

• Assist HGV drivers with manual tasks at the depot and on sites.
• Load empty containers and exchange empties for full containers.

Driver's Mate

Pay rate: £13.50 - £15

Contract: Type: Temporary

Location: Ipswich

Start Date: ASAP

We are looking for Driver's Mate to start ASAP for our client based in Ipswich, with all the support from our experienced Driver Hire team.

The successful Driver's Mate will receive:

£13.50 basic.

£15 overtime.

Guaranteed 10hrs per day.

28 days holiday prorated on PAYE.

Upskilling to HGV, ADR and HIAB after satisfactory probation period.

What to expect as a Driver's Mate:

Working Monday to Friday you'll be starting between 5am - 6am. You'll be assisting workshop waste HGV drivers with the manual aspects of the job such as:

Loading empty containers at depot - bins/drums/IBC's,

Exchanging empties for full containers on customer sites,

Use of drum trolley/electric pallet truck and tail lift on 18T rigid box to exchange workshop waste.

Waste material is generally waste oil. No human waste.

This is a physically demanding role.

As a Driver's Mate you must:

Able to communicate / engage with customers and colleagues, demonstrating a positive attitude to customer service

Be a reliable team player

Ability to manage physically demanding role.

This position is commutable from Stowmarket, Leiston, Woodbridge, Great Blakenham and other areas nearby to Ipswich.
