Job summary

Cappagh Browne is seeking a reliable Driver Operative (7.5 Tonne) to join our Civils team, delivering materials between sites and supporting on-site operations across Sussex, Kent, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. You will help maintain safe sites and play a key role in project delivery.

The role combines driving with hands-on site support, participation in a call-out rota, and opportunities to develop skills in groundworks and civils activities. A strong safety focus and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience driving and operating commercial vehicles, including 7.5 tonne tippers.
• Full UK driving licence with C1 entitlement.
• Strong focus on health and safety and safe working practices.
• Reliable, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Groundworks, utilities or civils experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
• NRSWA, NPORS Vehicle Marshal, Emergency First Aid or Manual Handling certifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Transport materials, equipment and waste between sites while supporting on-site activities.
• Collaborate with Supervisors, Gangers and site teams to maintain safe, organised working environments.
• Assist with excavation and utility-related activities; ensure vehicles and equipment are maintained to high standards.
• Participate in a call-out rota to support emergency and out-of-hours operations.

Vacancy Introduction

As a Driver Operative, you will play an important role in the safe and efficient delivery of civils works by transporting materials, equipment and waste between sites while supporting operational activities on‑site. Working closely with Supervisors, Gangers and site teams, you will help maintain safe, organised and compliant working environments, assist with excavation and utility‑related activities, and ensure vehicles and equipment are operated and maintained to the highest standards. The role also includes participation in a call‑out rota to support emergency and out‑of‑hours operational requirements.
