Job summary

Hollybank Trust in Holmfirth is seeking a reliable Driver/Caretaker to join our team on a full-time basis. The role combines transport duties with maintenance and caretaking responsibilities to support the smooth day-to-day running of our service.

You will help ensure the safety, comfort and wellbeing of the people we support by providing safe transport and keeping facilities clean, safe and well-maintained. A UK driving licence and DVLA check are required.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence required.
• Good driving record and confident driving ability.
• Basic practical maintenance and DIY skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of health & safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport service users, staff and visitors as required.
• Plan journeys efficiently and carry them out in a timely manner.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and ensure vehicles are clean and maintained.
• Report any vehicle defects or incidents promptly.
• Support passengers with boarding, seating and exiting vehicles safely.
• Adhere to road safety regulations and organisational policies.
• Carry out basic maintenance tasks (minor repairs, decorations, furniture assembly).
• Ensure building, grounds and facilities are clean, safe and well maintained.
• Conduct routine health & safety checks and report hazards or faults.
• Assist with moving and handling furniture and equipment.
• Oversee external contractors and assist with site access as needed.
• Maintain stock of maintenance supplies and equipment.

Salary: £12.74/hr

About the Role:

We are looking for a reliable, proactive and flexible Driver / Caretaker to join our team. This is a varied and rewarding role combining transport duties with general maintenance and caretaking responsibilities, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of our service.

You will play a key role in ensuring the safety, comfort and wellbeing of the people we support by providing safe transport and maintaining a clean, safe, and well-functioning environment

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer sponsorship to work in the UK, and we do ask that you have at least 6 months of UK based work experience in any sector.

All successful candidates will be subject to a DVLA check.

Key Responsibilities:

Driving Duties

• Safely transport service users, staff, and visitors as required
• Ensure all journeys are planned efficiently and carried out in a timely manner
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and ensure vehicles are clean, roadworthy, and well maintained
• Report any vehicle defects or incidents promptly
• Support passengers with boarding, seating and exiting vehicles in a safe and respectful manner
• Adhere to all road safety regulations and organisational policies

Caretaking & Maintenance Duties

• Carry out basic maintenance tasks (e.g. minor repairs, decorating, furniture assembly)
• Ensure the building, grounds and facilities are clean, safe and well maintained
• Conduct routine health & safety checks and report hazards or faults
• Support with moving and handling furniture and equipment as required

Person Specification - Essential
