Job summary

Gap Group is seeking a Driver in its Lifting Division for a 12-month maternity cover. You will deliver and collect lifting equipment to construction, utilities, and infrastructure sites across the UK, load and secure items, and complete all paperwork accurately at each site.

Daily vehicle checks, on-site demonstrations when required, and adherence to health and safety rules will be essential. You’ll join a family-run business with a long-standing presence in equipment hire across multiple

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a driving role delivering hire equipment.
  • Full UK driving licence; towing experience and Digi Tachograph card are desirable.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to complete paperwork accurately.
  • Professional and friendly approach when dealing with customers and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering and collecting lifting equipment to and from customer sites, completing all paperwork accurately.
  • Conduct hire equipment demonstrations where needed.
  • Carry out daily vehicle checks and basic maintenance to ensure roadworthiness and safety.
  • Safely loading and unloading equipment using correct strapping and securing methods.
  • Tag damaged equipment on return and place them in the correct depot area.
  • Maintain a clean and organised vehicle and support general depot duties.

As a Driver in GAP's Lifting Division, you'll be at the heart of our operations delivering essential equipment like hoists, slings, and winches to construction, utilities, and infrastructure sites across the UK. You'll load, deliver, and collect hire equipment safely and professionally, often demonstrating kit on-site and ensuring all checks and paperwork are completed accurately. Whether you're navigating busy city streets or remote rural roads, your role is key to keeping projects running smoothly.

About You
What You'll be Doing
  • Delivering and collecting lifting equipment to and from customer sites, completing all paperwork accurately (including damage checks, fuel levels, and authorised signatures)
  • Conduct hire equipment demonstrations where needed
  • Carrying out daily vehicle checks and basic maintenance to ensure roadworthiness and safety
  • Safely loading and unloading equipment using correct strapping and securing methods
  • Tagging damaged equipment on return and placing them in the correct depot area
  • Maintaining a clean and organised vehicle and supporting general depot duties
  • Following customer site Health & Safety rules and using digital tachographs in line with legislation
What You'll Bring
