Job summary

Lanes Group in Woolpit, UK is seeking a Drainage Assistant to join our depot team. You will work with experienced engineers on surveys of drainage systems and assist in maintenance and repair planning.

This permanent full-time role offers night and 4-on-4-off shifts, with a UK driving licence and a practical, outdoors-friendly mindset. Join a leading water utility network with training and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 penalty points)
• Strong interest in drainage, utilities, or civil engineering
• Practical, hands-on approach and willingness to work outdoors in all conditions
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Basic computer skills and a desire to learn new software

Responsibilities

• Communicate with customers about scheduled works and address concerns
• Identify drainage issues including blockages, defects, infiltration, and root ingress
• Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean drains, sewers, and pipework
• Remove waste materials and prevent wastewater build-up
• Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance to ensure readiness
• Support CCTV inspections to assess underground pipes and sewers
• Assist in emergency response situations including flooding and urgent drainage issues
• Learn to complete RAMS, RAMS-related documents under supervision
