Job summary

Lanes Group plc is seeking a Drainage Assistant to join the Bristol depot team. You will work with experienced engineers to survey drainage systems, assess conditions, identify defects and support maintenance strategies. This permanent full-time role is Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, based at Bristol.

Ideal candidates show a strong interest in drainage or civil engineering, a practical hands-on approach, and a willingness to work outdoors in all conditions. Driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Permanent full-time role with 40-hour weeks.
• Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 penalty points).
• Strong interest in drainage/utilities/civil engineering.

Responsibilities

• Assist in identifying drainage issues, including blockages, defects, infiltration and root ingress.
• Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean drains, sewers and pipework.
• Remove waste materials and prevent build-up in wastewater systems.
• Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance to ensure readiness.
• Support CCTV inspections to assess underground pipes and sewers.
• Assist in emergency response situations, including flooding and urgent drainage issues.
• Learn to complete job sheets, risk assessments and RAMS under supervision.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Drainage Assistant to join our team working out of our Bristol Depot. You'll be working alongside experienced engineers to carry out surveys of drainage systems, learning how to assess conditions, identify defects, and support maintenance and repair strategies. This is a Permanent full time role, Monday to Friday 40 hours per week.
