Job summary

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is seeking a Donor Carer to join its mobile team across donation sessions. You will provide a safe, caring donation experience, with training in donor screening, venepuncture and post-donation care.

You’ll travel between venues and work alongside healthcare professionals to ensure quality and donor satisfaction. The role involves varied hours including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, with no night shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience of dealing with the public.
• Experience of delivering a quality customer service.
• Be willing to learn new technology skills and undergo digital training.
• Hold a valid full UK Driving Licence (Manual) with no more than 6 penalty points (provisional licences will not be accepted)

Responsibilities

• Welcome and support donors to deliver a safe, caring donation experience.
• Learn and develop practical healthcare skills including donor health screening and venepuncture.
• Work in a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality donor care.
• Maintain donor records and support safe handling, reconciliation and transport of blood products and samples.
• Encourage donors to return for regular donations.
• Support quality, safety, infection prevention and regulatory compliance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and training opportunities.
• Travel to donation venues and help set up and pack down equipment.
