Job summary

NHS Blood and Transplant is seeking a Blood Donation Team Assistant to support donors and donation teams across multiple session locations. You will care for donors after donation, prepare refreshments, and help ensure sessions run safely and efficiently.

Full training and ongoing support are provided. Role involves variable hours including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, with travel to different locations when required.

Qualifications

• Experience dealing with the public.
• Good numeracy and literacy.
• Able to follow written instructions and complete training and ongoing competency assessments.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent post-donation care and customer service in the recovery area.
• Prepare refreshments and monitor donors during their visit.
• Be available for bank/variable hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Assist with journeys for blood collection in various locations when needed.
• Load, unload, and set up equipment daily, including heavy items up to 13 kg.
• Maintain health, safety and infection control standards.
