Job summary

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Domestic Services Manager to oversee operations across HHCS sites, ensuring high-quality cleaning and hydration support in line with national standards and KPIs.

You will lead a rotating 7-day shift pattern including weekends and holidays, supporting staff with hands-on leadership and ensuring robust governance and patient safety across Winchester, Basingstoke and Andover hospitals.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily domestic operations across HHCS managed areas, ensuring resource allocation and service continuity.
• Manage, develop and support the domestic team to deliver high-quality cleaning services in line with Trust standards and KPIs.
• Monitor service quality through audits, inspections and performance reporting to achieve KPIs and standards.
• Oversee specialist cleaning programmes with effective planning and record keeping.
• Develop relationships with wards and departments to support operational requirements and continuous improvement.
• Ensure workforce management through rota planning, attendance monitoring, recruitment support, and staff development.
• Oversee stock control, maintenance reporting and resolution of service-related issues.
• Maintain accurate operational records and governance compliance.
• Promote safety, quality and continuous improvement focused on patient experience and infection prevention.

Job description

The post holder is responsible for the operational management and delivery of high-quality, patient-focused domestic services across Hampshire Hospitals Contract Services (HHCS) sites and premises. The post holder will lead the provision of Domestic, Hydration and associated support services, ensuring ensuring services consistently meet statutory requirements, National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness, Trust policies and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The post holder is required to assist the Service Lead in the day-to-day running of the domestic and soft facilities services team and undertaking general cleaning duties. They will ensure that staff are trained and equipped to deliver and actively maintain the high standards required. We welcome drive and enthusiasm together with a flexible approach which supports staff through hands on working where required. Due to the nature of the work this role is set around a 7 day working pattern which means it is on a rotational shift pattern which includes weekends, nights and Bank Holidays. The role will also involve working as part of the management and supervisory team, covering Winchester, Basingstoke and Andover hospitals.

• Develop strong working relationships with wards, departments and key stakeholders to support operational requirements and continuous service improvement.
• Ensure effective workforce management through rota planning, attendance monitoring, recruitment support, performance management, appraisals and staff development.
• Oversee stock control, resource allocation and the timely reporting and resolution of maintenance, equipment and service-related issues.
• Maintain accurate operational records and management information, ensuring compliance with Trust procedures, governance requirements and statutory obligations.
• Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability and continuous improvement, ensuring services contribute positively to patient experience, infection prevention and staff wellbeing. The post holder will be employed by Hampshire Hospitals Contract Services Ltd. (HHCS) a wholly owned subsidiary of Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT).
