Job summary

NHFM is recruiting a friendly domestic assistant to join the Blyth Community Hospital team. The role involves cleaning wards, corridors and offices to maintain high standards of cleanliness across the site.

You will work a 30 hour week on a shift pattern of 7am-1pm or 1pm-7pm, with weekend and bank holiday enhancements. Full training and NHS terms apply, with generous annual leave and staff benefits.

Qualifications

  • Basic Food Hygiene and/or Level 1 Food Safety Certificate or must be achieved within 6 months of start date.
  • NVQ Level 1 or 2 or equivalent.
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning of floor areas as scheduled by means of vacuuming, mopping, buffing and spray cleaning.
  • Undertake “deep cleans” in areas where infection is present.
  • Removal of rubbish including domestic and clinical waste from designated areas to disposal point.
  • Cleaning of sanitary areas, toilet, sinks, shower cubicles and staff changing areas.
  • Damp dusting of all surfaces, ledges, shelves, curtain rails.
  • Cleaning of internal glass.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all work areas.
  • Carry out any urgent spot cleaning and spillage.
  • Participate in training programmes relevant to efficiency, fire drills, hygiene, the requirements of the health and safety at Work regulations and other courses as deemed necessary for the efficient working of the department.
  • Any other duties as deemed appropriate.

Job overview

We are looking to recruit a friendly and flexible domestic assistant to join our small team at Blyth Community Hospital.

Details of hours of work for this position are:

30 hr per week - predominantly to be worked on our inpatient ward, usually as 5 x 6 hr shifts.

Shifts are to be worked are either 7am-1pm or 1pm-7pm as part of a rota.

This position includes working a share of weekend and bank holiday dates for which an enhanced rate is payable.
