Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a part-time domestic services assistant to provide a high quality catering and ward kitchen service for patients, staff and visitors at Dumbarton Joint Hospital. You will take patient food orders, work with NHS colleagues, and maintain cleanliness in kitchen and ward areas.

The role is 19.73 hours per week, with a Mon-Thu 15:00–19:00 and Fri 15:00–18:44 pattern. You must follow cleaning schedules, HACCP procedures, wear protective clothing, handle waste

Responsibilities

  • Present an efficient, high quality domestic service to patients and staff within the hospital.
  • Follow specific schedule of work relating to defined areas with a flexible daily routine.
  • Economic and safe use of cleaning agents, following manufacturers' instructions.
  • Care and use of mechanical cleaning equipment.
  • Inform Supervisor of requirements for work materials and check delivery of supplies.
  • Wear protective clothing as supplied by the Department.
  • Dispose of waste in accordance with relevant Policy.
  • Clean crockery, cutlery and equipment manually or via dishwasher.
  • Work in accordance with pre-agreed cleaning schedules and frequencies.
  • Respond to rectifications following audit within given timescale.
  • Regenerate ward meals and plate meals as part of Ward food service.
  • Comply with Infection Control Guidelines including colour coding and body fluid cleaning.
  • Maintain security including alarms, keys, and closing doors/windows.
  • Ensure a smart and professional manner at all times.
  • Maintain high personal hygiene standards.
  • Comply with Health & Safety regulations and training.
  • Report faulty equipment and participate as a team member.
  • Store cleaning agents and equipment correctly.
  • Prepare and serve hot beverages if required.
  • Order stock and receipt of cleaning materials with rotation by use-by dates.

Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. The Role

Your duties will include: working within the kitchen and ward areas to provide an efficient, high quality catering service to patients, staff, and visitors. This includes taking patients food orders, working alongside NHS staff, serving food at ward level, keeping all areas of the kitchen clean, replenishing supplies. There will be the use of economic and safe use of cleaning agents, following manufacturers recommended instructions. In this role you will be required to use electrical equipment. i.e. Burlodge Regen Oven and, Dishwasher, Tablet. You are required to wear protective clothing as supplied by the Department and complete all daily/weekly sign off sheets for areas of work including HACCP paperwork. There is the requirement for you to have a flexible approach to daily routine.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a or a NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern Key responsibilities:

This is a permanent post of 19.73 hour per week.

This role is based at Dumbarton Joint Hospital G82 5JA.

The shift pattern is Monday-Thursday 15.00-19.00, Friday 15.00-18.44

The salary is Pro Rata for part-time posts.

Key Responsibilities

This includes:

  • Present an efficient, high quality domestic service to patients and staff within the hospital.
  • Follow specific schedule of work relating to defined areas although post holders are required to have a flexible approach to daily routine.
  • Economic and safe use of cleaning agents, following manufacturers recommended instructions.
  • Care and use of mechanical cleaning equipment.
  • Inform Supervisor of requirements for work materials as required and check delivery of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Wear protective clothing as supplied by the Department.
  • Disposal of waste in accordance with relevant Policy.
  • Clean crockery, cutlery, utensils, containers and small scale equipment manually or through the dish washer located in the ward kitchen (as per work schedule).
  • Work in accordance with pre-agreed cleaning schedules/frequencies (as per work schedule).
  • Respond to rectifications following audit within given timescale.
  • Responsible for regeneration of ward meals and plating up of meals as part of Ward food service (as per work schedule).
  • Comply with Infection Control Guidelines including colour coding system and body fluid cleaning in public areas.
  • Participate in maintaining security at all times including setting alarms, distributing keys, closing windows and doors securely (as per work schedule).
  • If included on work schedule, bed screen/curtain hanging where required.
  • Ensure a smart and professional manner at all times.
  • Maintain high personal hygiene standards.
  • Comply with Health & Safety regulations.
  • Adhere to manual handling/risk assessment/fire safety training.
  • Report faulty equipment.
  • Participate as a team member.
  • Store cleaning agents and equipment correctly.
  • Prepare and serve hot beverages if part of work schedule.
  • Order stock and receipt of cleaning materials rotate for use by dates if required.
