Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking flexible part-time Domestic/Catering staff to maintain cleanliness across patient areas and related facilities. The role includes catering at ward level, laundering, curtain changes, and porter duties in various health care environments.

Induction will be provided and prior right-to-work in the UK is required. Applicants should have good communication skills and be willing to undertake required training in health and safety, COSHH, infection

Qualifications

  • Induction training provided, including 3 full days prior to start.
  • Training in the use of all cleaning machinery (training provided).
  • Health and Safety training provided.
  • COSHH training provided.
  • Lifting and Handling training provided.
  • Basic Food Hygiene certificate (training provided).
  • Infection control practices training provided.
  • Driving licence required for driving duties.

Responsibilities

  • Clean patient areas, clinical and non-clinical departments, offices and administration areas following national standards.
  • Provide patient catering at ward level and patient laundering.
  • Mop laundering, patients housekeeping, curtain changing and porter/messenger services.

Job description

The role:

These are a Domestic/Catering related roles

You will undertake the cleaning of patient areas, clinical and non-clinical departments, offices and administration areas to comply with national standards of cleanliness, provide patient catering at ward level, patient laundering, mop laundering, patients housekeeping, curtain changing and porter/messenger services within various health care environments including Acute Wards, Clinical Departments, Mental Health wards, Health Centres, Resource Centres and Ambulance Stations

As part of the role you will have a lot of contact with patients so good communication skills are essential. Training will be provided including 3 full days induction prior to commencement of role You must have right to work in UK for the duration of your employment and be able to provide at least two references from current or most previous employment/education covering the last 3 years.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
  • Location based in Stobhill Campus
  • Permanent positions
  • Part-time hours available

- 2x 19.73 hours - Monday to Friday, 16:00 - 20:00

- 20 hours - Monday to Friday, 06:00 - 10:00

- 24.4 hours - Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 13:30

- 15 hours - Monday to Friday, 16:00 - 19:00

- 1x 19.73 hours - Monday to Friday, 15:00 - 19:00

- 12.2 hours - Monday to Friday, 05:30 - 08:00

- 29.6 hours - Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 14:00

- 9.87 hours - Saturday to Sunday, 09:00 - 14:00

- 19.73 hours - Monday to Friday, 17:00 - 21:00

- 19.20 hours - Monday to Friday, 05:00 - 09:00

- 6 hours - Saturday/Sunday, 06:00 - 09:00

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.

Key responsibilities:
  • All aspects of cleaning ensuring cleaning work schedules are followed
  • Operation of cleaning equipment (see attached equipment list)
  • Removal and disposal of waste
  • Litter picking within 10m radius of buildings
  • Collect and distribute on site mail
  • Operation of mail equipment (see attached equipment list)
  • Collection and onward transmission of specimens and sharps boxes
  • Follow work schedules as instructed
  • Report any faults to supervisor
  • Use equipment only as instructed
