Job summary

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Domestic Assistant to maintain a clean, safe and hygienic ward environment for patients, staff and visitors. The role supports infection prevention standards and enables smooth day-to-day ward operations.

You will clean wards, clinics, offices and public spaces, restock supplies, and follow COSHH guidelines. This is a permanent post with AM/PM shifts and a Band 2 salary with NHS benefits including pension and staff discounts.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning wards, clinics, offices, corridors, waiting areas and public spaces.
  • Dusting, mopping, vacuuming and polishing floors.
  • Cleaning toilets, bathrooms, sinks, showers and sanitary areas.
  • Emptying waste bins and disposing of waste safely.
  • Replenishing supplies such as soap, towels and toilet rolls.
  • Carrying out deep-clean tasks and responding to spillages or emergencies.
  • Using cleaning equipment safely in line with COSHH and infection prevention policies.
  • Reporting maintenance issues, hazards or concerns to supervisors.

Job description

To provide a high-quality housekeeping and domestic service that supports a clean, safe, welcoming, and comfortable ward environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The post holder will contribute to infection prevention and control standards by maintaining cleanliness throughout the ward and supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of ward services.

The post holder will work as an integral part of the ward team ensuing a high-quality service to patients, ensuring cleaning is carried out in accordance with the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2025

Main Duties and Responsibilities
