Department – Market Analysis & Policy
Salary - National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £72,100 to £90,000 and London £79,300 to £95,000 per annum (Salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced policy manager to join the Market Analysis & Policy (MAP) department within the FCA’s Consumer Investments (CI) Directorate and help shape the future of consumer investments. The department is responsible for strategic policymaking and providing markets insights for the consumer investments sector, which covers over 5,000 firms and 50,000 individuals, providing a range of crucial investment services to consumers.

A well-functioning consumer investments sector will also support capital raising, investment innovation and job growth in the real economy, driving wider economic growth that can benefit everyone.
The Consumer Investments Distribution Policy team is responsible for ensuring that the regulatory regime governing the distribution of investment products to consumers is robust, reliable and supports the FCA's objectives. The team has a broad remit covering widely applicable regimes, such as financial promotions, product governance and disclosure. We also lead online harms policy development, working closely with the Financial Promotions and Enforcement Taskforce.
What will you be doing?
Delivering policy change and implementation, which will include leading complex projects and understanding and supporting good governance
Identifying and managing key stakeholders, building rapport and constructive relationships with government, industry and consumer groups, and being a credible representative for the FCA
Overseeing a wide range of policy-related work, including providing high quality policy advice and support to supervisors, firms, consumers and trade and consumer bodies
Developing and planning the team strategy and priorities, including identifying priority work, scoping new products and considering how these supports FCA strategic priorities
Helping to develop and grow the expertise within the team and the wider department
Taking a wider leadership role in the department

Minimum
Prior policy-making and financial services experience in a regulator, government department, firm or other relevant organisation, handling complex policy issues
Prior experience of managing large projects and line managing and coaching / supporting colleagues
Prior experience in managing senior stakeholders, both internal and external
Essential
Experience of proposing and developing solutions, ideally in a policy context
Strong persuading and interpersonal skills and a proven track record in managing stakeholder engagement
Ability to communicate key messages and explain issues in a clear and concise manner
Analyse complex information to draw reasoned and logical inferences from quantitative and/or qualitative data, and to reach robust and practical conclusions
Ability to make good judgements, to prioritise effectively, to respond positively to challenge and to adapt approach and working styles quickly and successfully
Experience of working to deliver complex projects to tight deadlines, and ability to exercise a high degree of initiative in response to changing circumstances
