Job summary

Stonehouse Recruitment seeks a Technical Officer to support housing and disrepair cases, specialising in damp and mould. The role involves inspections, defect diagnosis, and preparing technical reports through to remedial completion.

The successful candidate will manage cases, liaise with residents, solicitors, contractors and surveyors, and ensure compliance with housing legislation. Initial 6-month contract with potential extension; site-based with hybrid working.

Qualifications

• Relevant professional qualification such as HNC or equivalent experience in construction, surveying, building or a related discipline.
• Professional experience in housing environments and housing disrepair claims.
• Experience producing expert witness reports and site inspections.
• Knowledge of damp, mould, building defects and domestic property maintenance.
• Understanding of housing legislation and HHSRS.

Responsibilities

• Manage housing disrepair, damp and mould cases from investigation through completion.
• Undertake property inspections and diagnose defects and hazards.
• Prepare detailed technical and expert witness reports.
• Oversee remedial works and ensure value for money.
• Coordinate with residents, solicitors, contractors, surveyors and other stakeholders.
• Monitor progress, variations and final accounts with contractors.
