Job description

Despatch Supervisor - Manufacturing Environment

£30,000-£34,000 per annum

Mon-Fri 08:30-17:00

Leicester (Near Fosse Park)

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Despatch Supervisor will be responsible for the safe and efficient distribution of metal products to the end customer.

The Despatch team is small but effective, consisting of 2 warehouse operatives and 1-2 drivers. You will organize the department and lead from the front.

This role involves wearing many hats, including but not limited to:

Management and Administration Tasks

1. Running the despatch operation with full autonomy
2. Overseeing department health & safety
3. Assessing and improving current processes
4. Collaborating with Sales and Production teams
5. Working with HR on RTW interviews, investigations, and headcount planning

Warehouse/Despatch - Supervising and Hands-On Work

1. Transporting products between buildings using the Counterbalance forklift
2. Printing labels and packing customer orders
3. Quality checking orders before dispatch
4. Loading and unloading deliveries using FLT

Transport Management

1. Conducting weekly vehicle checks
2. Booking and prioritising deliveries
3. Ensuring drivers adhere to working hours
4. Reporting defects
5. Checking Proof of Delivery (PODs)
6. Managing the company fleet before outsourcing to carriers

To be considered, you should have experience in a similar leadership role within the Manufacturing or Engineering industry. This environment may be demanding; you must be willing to get your hands dirty and implement change.
