Job description

Director, Turnaround – Strategy and Restructuring

We’re working with a market-leading advisory practice that is looking to add a Director to its Turnaround team. This is a senior leadership role, where you’ll be central to building client relationships, leading complex engagements and shaping the future of the practice.

The Turnaround team is often the first line of response when organisations are under financial or operational stress. They support businesses across the UK, ranging from regional mid-market companies through to large corporates. Projects are varied, spanning cash and liquidity management, refinancing, options reviews, accelerated M&A, working capital improvement, transformation programmes and performance turnaround. It’s a team that works across all sectors, pulling in deep expertise from across the wider firm to deliver joined up solutions.

The role

  • Take a lead in originating new opportunities, leveraging both your own network and the wider firm’s reach
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with boards, lenders, investors and other stakeholders, often in challenging circumstances
  • Scope, structure and deliver complex turnaround projects, ensuring they are executed to the highest standard on time and on budget
  • Work closely with colleagues across different disciplines to deliver integrated solutions for clients
  • Coach and develop a high calibre team, creating a supportive but performance-driven culture
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the practice and play a key role in its continued growth

What we’re looking for

  • A strong academic or technical background, ideally ACA, CFA, MBA or equivalent
  • Significant experience in turnaround and restructuring, gained within a Big 4, boutique advisory practice, bank workout team or CRO environment
  • A proven track record in leading multi-workstream projects covering liquidity management, transformation, turnaround and balance sheet restructuring
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders, including boards and external advisors, and the ability to build trust quickly
  • A commercial outlook with experience in developing business and supporting go-to-market strategies
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and empower teams in demanding situations

This is a rare opportunity to join a top tier team at Director level, with the chance to influence its future direction and to work on some of the most high profile and complex turnaround assignments in the market. You’ll be part of a collaborative and ambitious environment, with the resources and scale of a global advisory business but the culture of a close-knit team. Flexible working and a people-first culture are part of the set up, so you’ll be supported to balance your career with life outside work.

If you’re an experienced turnaround professional looking for a leadership role where you can make an impact, we’d love to hear from you. Please apply here or get in touch in confidence for a conversation.
