Just Eat Takeaway.com is seeking a Director of Data Science & Machine Learning to lead a global team of 90+ data scientists, operations research scientists, ML engineers and MLOps engineers, and to shape the optimisation of our network.

The role focuses on real-time decision systems, demand forecasting, supply balancing, and dynamic pricing at marketplace scale, with a hybrid work model in London or Amsterdam.

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience in Data Science, ML or Operations Research, managing large teams across time zones.
• Deep credibility in real-time ML and marketplace/network optimization (logistics, delivery or similar).
• Experience taking models from research to low-latency production at scale.
• Strong grounding in experimentation and causal inference under network effects and multi-sided marketplaces.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy for real-time decision systems: demand forecasting, supply balancing and dispatch optimization at marketplace scale.
• Shape courier pay design and incentive mechanisms grounded in economics and causal modelling.
• Oversee ML platform quality, MLOps standards, and CI/CD pipelines for production delivery.
• Drive experimentation and causal inference to connect short-term results with long-term outcomes like courier retention.
