Job summary

Compass Associates have partnered with a family-run care provider to appoint an experienced Operations Director to join their senior leadership team. The role covers Surrey and the South East, with responsibility for operational performance, quality and commercial delivery across multiple services.

The successful candidate will lead a senior operational team, drive CQC compliance and quality governance, and collaborate with the COO and Board on strategy and growth.

Qualifications

• Senior operational leader with health or social care experience.

Operations Director | Elderly Care Business | Family Run

Compass Associates have partnered with a family-run care provider to appoint an experienced Operations Director to join their senior leadership team.

The organisation operates a substantial portfolio of care and specialist services across Surrey and the South East, spanning nursing, residential and dementia.

This is a key senior appointment within the organisation, with responsibility for providing strategic and operational leadership across multiple services while working closely with the existing COO and wider Board.

The successful candidate will take ownership of operational performance, quality, compliance and commercial delivery, while leading a senior operational team and supporting the organisation's continued growth and development.

The role also provides a longer-term opportunity to progress into a wider group-level leadership position as part of the organisation's succession planning.

The Role

As Operations Director, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across the organisation, including:

• Taking overall responsibility for operational performance across a multi-site care portfolio.
• Leading, developing and supporting a senior operational team across multiple services.
• Ensuring safe, effective and person-centred care is consistently delivered across the organisation.
• Driving CQC compliance, quality governance and continuous improvement.
• Taking responsibility for operational budgets, revenue, EBITDA and overall commercial performance.
• Developing strong relationships with CQC, Local Authorities, ICBs, commissioners and other external stakeholders.
• Supporting the development, mobilisation and integration of new services.
• Leading the implementation and embedding of robust company-wide compliance, auditing and operational systems.
• Providing strategic oversight of Care at Home and Complex Care services.
• Supporting the optimisation of revenue and EBITDA performance across specialist rehabilitation services.
• Monitoring operational performance and driving improvement across new and developing services.
• Working closely with the CEO, COO and Board on wider organisational strategy and growth.
• Developing a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous improvement across the operational teams.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Proven senior operational leadership experience within health or social care.
• Experience operating atRegional Director, Operations Director or equivalent level.
• Experience overseeing multiple care services and senior operational teams.
• Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, quality governance and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrable experience managing operational budgets and commercial performance.
• Strong understanding of occupancy, staffing, agency usage, revenue and EBITDA.
• Experience working with Local Authorities, ICBs, commissioners, CQC and other external stakeholders.
• Experience of service mobilisation, new developments, acquisitions or operational transformation would be advantageous.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, develop and challenge senior operational teams.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills at Board and external stakeholder level.
• Commercially astute, decisive and able to operate effectively within a fast-paced and evolving organisation.
• An RGN/RMN qualification would be advantageous, although strong operational experience will be the key consideration.
