Job summary

La Fosse is partnering with a global product-led technology business seeking a Director of Engineering to strengthen its leadership team in London. The role focuses on building a leadership layer beneath the VP of Engineering, driving delivery across large-scale, customer-facing platforms and teams.

You will balance engineering quality with delivery commitments and commercial priorities, while engaging with executive leadership and cross-functional partners to enable scalable growth and maturity.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Director of Engineering, Head of Engineering or equivalent senior leadership role.
• Experience managing engineering organisations of 50+ engineers with accountability for delivery, performance and workforce planning.
• Strong background in modern product-led software environments.
• Ability to balance engineering quality, delivery commitments and commercial priorities.
• Strong stakeholder management, including executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Experience driving organisational effectiveness, engineering excellence and operational maturity at scale.
• Exposure to budget ownership, vendor management and long-term capability planning.
• Practical experience introducing AI-enabled engineering practices or productivity improvements.

Responsibilities

• Create the leadership layer beneath the VP of Engineering to bring structure, accountability and operational excellence.
• Drive delivery across business-critical products and platforms.
• Shape the future operating model of the engineering function and collaborate with executive leadership on strategy.
• Lead the engineering organisation through managers and senior technical leaders to scale capabilities and performance.
