Job summary

La Fosse is partnering with a global product-led technology business seeking a Director of Engineering to strengthen its leadership team in London. The role focuses on building a leadership layer beneath the VP of Engineering, driving delivery across large-scale, customer-facing platforms and teams.

You will balance engineering quality with delivery commitments and commercial priorities, while engaging with executive leadership and cross-functional partners to enable scalable growth and maturity.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Director of Engineering, Head of Engineering or equivalent senior leadership role.
• Experience managing engineering organisations of 50+ engineers with accountability for delivery, performance and workforce planning.
• Strong background in modern product-led software environments.
• Ability to balance engineering quality, delivery commitments and commercial priorities.
• Strong stakeholder management, including executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Experience driving organisational effectiveness, engineering excellence and operational maturity at scale.
• Exposure to budget ownership, vendor management and long-term capability planning.
• Practical experience introducing AI-enabled engineering practices or productivity improvements.

Responsibilities

La Fosse has partnered with a global product-led technology business looking to strengthen its engineering leadership team. We're looking for a Director of Engineering to help lead the next stage of growth and maturity across a large-scale, customer-facing engineering organisation.

Your mission:

Create the leadership layer beneath the VP of Engineering, bringing the structure, accountability and operational excellence needed to help a global engineering organisation perform at its best, whilst driving delivery across business-critical products and platforms.

What They're Looking For

• Proven experience as a Director of Engineering, Head of Engineering or equivalent senior engineering leadership role
• Track record leading Engineering Managers, Lead Engineers and senior technical leaders across multiple teams
• Experience managing engineering organisations of 50+ engineers with accountability for delivery, performance and workforce planning
• Strong background within modern product-led software engineering environments
• Ability to balance engineering quality, delivery commitments and commercial priorities
• Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable engaging with executive leadership, customers and cross-functional teams
• Experience driving organisational effectiveness, engineering excellence and operational maturity at scale
• Exposure to budget ownership, vendor management and long-term engineering capability planning
• Practical experience introducing AI-enabled engineering practices or improving engineering productivity through automation
