Job summary

East Riding of Yorkshire Council advertises an external vacancy for a Direct Payment Worker to support two brothers near Londesborough. This placement is not employment with the council and is funded via Direct Payments.

Job description

This is an external vacancy and is not employment with East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Direct Payment reference: 1308447 / 1308448

4 hours per week for each sibling so 8 hours per week to start with.

Days/Times

Ideally Sundays to start.

About the recipient

The individuals are 2 brothers aged 6 & 7 years old, they live between 2 households, the caring support would be required at mum's house, this is based close to Londesborough. They require a dedicated and patient person to support them due to having a range of complex additional needs, including FASD and PDA.

The 6-year-old enjoys exploring outdoors, playing games on x-box and has a special interest in anything to do with farming.

The 7-year-old enjoys playing Minecraft and other games on their x-box, exploring outdoors & playing football.

They don't like outings to busy noisy places as this is overstimulating so activities in outdoor quieter settings or based at home feel safest.

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the individual with accessing activities and spending time out in the community.
  • Attending/transporting the individual to social activities.
  • Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.

  • Experience supporting an individual with additional needs/working in the SEN sector.
  • Flexibility to work more hours if funding allows.

DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post – Cost to be met by the local authority.

Children and Young People, Specialist Services Direct Payments is an in-house service provided by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to support families of Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to fulfil their potential and aspirations.

Whilst caring experience is always useful, you don’t necessarily need to have worked in care to be a great Direct Payment Worker, the right attitude and a person‑centred approach is more important.

Travel

Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required, applicants must be able to transport themselves.
