Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive the execution of ABB's digital sales strategy across the UK cluster, playing a pivotal role in boosting market presence and unlocking growth potential. You will champion innovative digital initiatives to deliver strong performance across key metrics — from revenue and margin to customer satisfaction and market share. As a key architect of ABB’s digital future, this role fuels the expansion of our digital customer base, spearheads direct sales to strategic digital clients, and accelerates the growth of our Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings. The work model for the role is: remote {#LI-remote}. This role is contributing to the Energy Industries business, part of the Process Automation division.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  1. Selling digital solutions to customers, focusing on volume, mix, and profitability targets for Energy customers in the UK cluster, both existing and new customers.
  2. Identifying and driving the development of new market opportunities in the designated market and ensuring know-how sharing and cross-collaboration.
  3. Preparing offers in coordination with the bid and proposal department and/or the Marketing Manager.
  4. Ensuring appropriate technical and financial aspects of offers are in place, including prices and trading conditions.
  5. Ensuring that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled, and directed.
  6. Anticipating and identifying the shortfalls in performance and taking appropriate remedial actions proactively.
  7. Driving top line growth.
  8. Establishing and maintaining effective customer relationships (including customers’ Digital stakeholders) to understand customer needs, promote their understanding of ABB’s complete product/systems/services offering, and align with ABB sales to provide a comprehensive solution to solve customer needs.
Qualifications for the role
  • Proven experience in digital sales, SaaS, or technology solutions, ideally within the Energy sector, with a focus on driving revenue growth, market share, and customer satisfaction – advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of commercial aspects, including pricing, trading conditions, and contract negotiations, with the ability to translate technical solutions into compelling business value propositions.
  • Demonstrated success in establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships, especially with digital stakeholders, and a customer-centric approach to driving solutions and addressing needs.
  • Ability to identify and drive new market opportunities, focusing on both existing and potential customers in the UK cluster, and promoting ABB’s digital solutions effectively.
  • Experience in leading and motivating cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and driving collaborative efforts between sales, marketing, and technical departments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to addressing performance shortfalls, and a focus on achieving both qualitative and quantitative sales targets to ensure sustainable growth and profitability.
