Job summary

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an IT support specialist to maintain its technology infrastructure, including installations, configuration, upgrades, and end-user support for desktops and virtual Windows servers. You will help ensure EPIC runs smoothly and deliver 1st to 3rd line support.

You will provide guidance to colleagues, manage security and asset protection, and help plan capacity for both cloud and on-premises systems in a patient-focused healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Support Digital IT Support and End User Technology colleagues in planning and delivering high-quality end-user technologies in line with healthcare standards and EPIC best practices.
• Provide technical expertise in administering supporting infrastructure and applications, including antivirus, VDI, hardware asset management, and mobile device management.
• Support maintenance of Trust systems and applications across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Advise Digital Support teams on capacity and availability management, recommending efficient, effective solutions.
• Lead installation, configuration, management, maintenance and monitoring of workspace devices, hardware and software upgrades per Trust standards.
• Provide specialist security and confidentiality guidance for PCs, mobile devices and data against threats.
• Ensure incident, problem and service request management within agreed timescales and procedures.
• Support Digital Support and End User Technology teams in delivering seamless 1st-3rd line digital support with knowledge sharing.

Job description

The role involves maintaining the technology infrastructure, including installations, configuration, upgrades, and support of all client systems infrastructure on desktops and virtual Windows servers.

It also includes supporting the Trust's electronic patient record system, EPIC, and providing technical guidance and support to colleagues to deliver seamless 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line support services.

• Support and assist Digital IT Support and End User Technology colleagues in planning, organising, and delivering high-quality end-user technologies consistent with healthcare industry standards and EPIC best practices.


• Provide technical expertise in the administration of supporting infrastructure and applications, including maintaining antivirus systems, VDI environments, hardware asset management, and mobile device management tools.


• Support the maintenance of the Trust's systems and applications in both on-premises and cloud-based environments.


• Advise and support Digital Support and End User Technology colleagues on capacity and availability management, recommending efficient and effective solutions.


• Lead on the installation, configuration, management, maintenance, and monitoring of all workspace devices, hardware, and software upgrades in line with Trust standards.


• Provide specialist technical advice on the security and confidentiality protection of the Trust’s PCs, mobile devices, and data against external and internal security breaches.


• Ensure the management, monitoring, and resolution of incidents, problems, and service requests in own areas in line with agreed timescales, processes, and procedures.


• Support and assist Digital Support and End User Technology colleagues in delivering seamless digital support services, covering 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line support with knowledge sharing at the core.
