A vacancy has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic dietitian for the Forth Valley Dietetic Diabetes service. The post offers excellent experience to work as an integral member of a large, friendly, diabetes multidisciplinary team providing a specialist service to patients with Type 1, Type 2 and gestational diabetes.
The post offers excellent experience within Diabetes. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated interest in Diabetes. Working alongside the team of Band 7, Band 6 and Band 5 Diabetes Dietitians, the post-holder will provide a service to specified clinics and group diabetes education sessions within specific locations across Forth Valley Royal Hospital and Falkirk Community Hospitals. Within this role there will be the opportunity to deliver education on use of technology to support the management of diabetes including the use of insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring systems. The dietitians work extremely closely with the Diabetes team comprising of Consultants, Diabetes Nurse Specialists, Podiatrists and the clerical team. Close MDT working is pivotal in this role.
The post holder will possess excellent communication skills, be skilled in delivering behaviour change education and be committed to personal development. The post-holder would be expected to actively contribute to departmental activities e.g. student training, department meetings and when necessary provide some cover to other clinical areas.
The Forth Valley Clinical Dietetic team is a friendly and proactive team providing inpatient and outpatient services within Forth Valley Royal Hospital, 4 Community Hospitals and within Community Services. This post will be part of a team of 33 dietitians providing a wide variety of clinical specialities including critical care, renal, stroke, paediatrics, diabetes, IBS, home enteral feeding along with 5 dietetic assistants and an administrative team. Shadowing and development opportunities exist within these other clinical specialities.
Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.
