Job summary

The Falkirk Mining Company offers an internship program for students pursuing an associate or technical degree in diesel mechanics or automotive technology. Positions run May 2027 to Aug 2027 (3 months) or May 2027 to Dec 2027 (8 months).

Qualifications

• Enroll in an accredited diesel mechanic / automotive program and in good academic standing with the college or university.
• Completed a portion of college in the associated field of study and intents on completing the degree.
• Applicants need to have a valid driver’s license.
• Able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
• Able to work rotating shifts.
• Steel-toed Shoes.

Responsibilities

• Perform safety inspections and corrections.
• Perform mechanical work on heavy equipment and small diesel engines.
• Remove and install engines and components.
• Assemble and disassemble engines, brake adjustments, repair clutches and wheel bearings.
• Perform general repairs on trucks, tractors and light vehicles.
• Perform engine tune ups and field work.
• Service, operate and test large equipment.
• Clean the shop.
• Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures, and state and federal environmental regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
