Job summary

Hedgehog Lab, a digital product consultancy with two decades of experience and ~100 people, is seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer. You will own cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure and GCP for products built with TypeScript, Node, and Python.

You’ll design and run CI/CD pipelines, manage infrastructure as code, and ensure secure, monitored, and cost-effective environments. You will talk with clients about technical decisions, trade-offs, and set the DevOps standards followed across projects.

Qualifications

• : You have production cloud infrastructure experience across AWS, Azure or GCP.
• : You implement release pipelines and manage infrastructure as code to keep environments secure, monitored and cost effective.
• : You mentor or lead other engineers and communicate technical decisions to clients or non-technical stakeholders.
• : You have experience in a consultancy/agency setting or working across multiple cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure and GCP for products built in TypeScript, Node and Python.
• Build CI/CD pipelines to enable frequent and safe releases.
• Manage infrastructure as code and ensure security, monitoring and cost efficiency.
• Explain technical decisions to clients and set DevOps standards for projects.

Описание: You’ll join hedgehog lab, a digital product consultancy with 20 years of experience. We’re around 100 people, B Corp and Great Place to Work certified, and backed by a growth capital investor. Your clients will be public and private sector organisations going through digital transformation, from moving to a new tech stack to building an AI platform from scratch. They include retail, health tech and financial services businesses. You’ll work in project teams of 5 to 15 people, alongside agentic engineers, software engineers, QA and designers. You’ll join us as a Lead Cloud Engineer, which is what we call our DevOps engineers.

You’ll own the cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure and GCP for products built in TypeScript, Node and Python, from design through to running it day to day. You’ll build the CI/CD pipelines that let teams release often and safely, and manage it all as code so environments stay secure, monitored and cost effective. You’ll talk clients through technical decisions and trade-offs, and set the DevOps standards other projects follow.

Whilst there’s no set number of days you’re required to be in the office each week, we really value spending time together in person, both as a team and with our clients. There will be times when we’ll need you to be in one of our offices or at a client site for important meetings, workshops and key moments. To make that work, you’ll need to be based within 50 miles of one of our offices in Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester or London.
