Job summary

hedgehog lab is a digital product consultancy with 20 years behind us. You’ll take the lead on the cloud side of client projects, decide how things should be set up and then build them yourself, with support to grow into the role.

Our teams of 5 to 15 work across health tech, retail and financial services. You’ll design cloud infrastructure, manage DevOps pipelines and environments, lead the technical side of a workstream, and build proofs of concept to test ideas early.

Qualifications

• Commercial experience designing and running cloud infrastructure, ideally on AWS.
• Experience leading the technical side of a project or workstream.
• Ability to work with TypeScript, Python or Node.
• Good grasp of architecture from working with architects.
• Experience using AI tools and building with agents.
• Confident explaining technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and build cloud infrastructure on projects.
• Look after DevOps, pipelines, environments and deployments.
• Lead the technical side of a workstream with tech leads and architects.
• Build proofs of concept to test ideas early.
• Support engineers with less cloud experience.
• Help estimate new work.

You’ll take the lead on the cloud side of client projects, deciding how things should be set up and then building them yourself. If you’ve been acting as a lead without the title, or want the chance to, this is a role you can grow into with support. hedgehog lab is a digital product consultancy with 20 years behind us. We build apps, websites and AI platforms for public and private sector clients in health tech, retail and financial services. Our project teams are 5 to 15 people, made up of agentic engineers, software engineers, QA and designers.

• Looking after DevOps, from pipelines to environments and deployments
• Leading the technical side of a workstream, working with tech leads and architects

• You might be a senior cloud or DevOps engineer today.
• Commercial experience designing and running cloud infrastructure, ideally on AWS
• Experience leading the technical side of a project or workstream, even if it wasn’t your job title
• Enough TypeScript, Python or Node to work closely with the engineers building on your infrastructure
• A good grasp of architecture from working alongside architects
• You use AI tools in your work and want to build with agents
• Confidence explaining technical decisions to people who aren’t technical
