Hybrid, London - City
Full time, 24 Month Fixed Term Contract
Salary: £ 64,000-£74,000
Your Role

As our DevOps Engineer you will help strengthen the CII’s digital transformation capability by shaping cohesive DevOps practices across Dynamics 365, ERP platforms, SQL environments, and key third-party integrations. You’ll support secure, scalable, and automated delivery by ensuring our platforms, pipelines, and cloud infrastructure work together effectively.

You’ll play a central part in maintaining consistent engineering standards, improving how we manage environments and integrations, and enhancing the reliability and performance of our digital estate. The role also contributes to ongoing innovation, identifying opportunities to improve automation, resilience, and long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Dynamics 365 DevOps Enablement: Leads the creation and optimisation of automated build and release pipelines for Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement. Oversees solution packaging, configuration migration, automated test orchestration, and environment promotion to ensure controlled and repeatable delivery.
  • ERP and Core Platform Integration Engineering: Designs and maintains integrations between Dynamics 365, ERP systems, SQL platforms, and external providers using Azure Integration Services. Ensures resilient data exchange, adherence to security patterns, and alignment to enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Azure DevOps Platform Management: Administers Azure DevOps repositories, branching conventions, CI/CD pipelines, service connections, and work item processes. Supports Agile DSDM workflows and enhances cross-team consistency in delivery processes.
  • Azure DevOps Maintenance and Standardisation: Conducts regular clean-up and rationalisation of Azure DevOps projects, pipelines, artefacts, and permissions. Implements naming conventions, reusable pipeline templates, lifecycle management, and governance controls to embed a sustainable and standardised approach.
  • Azure Cloud Infrastructure Delivery: Implements and automates cloud resource provisioning using ARM, Bicep, or Terraform. Oversees resource configuration, optimisation, and identity management across CRM, ERP, SQL, and integration environments.
  • Operational Excellence: Implements enterprise monitoring and diagnostics using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and SQL performance tools. Drives proactive incident prevention, service optimisation, and automated remediation patterns.
  • Security and Governance: Applies secure engineering principles across pipelines, integrations, and infrastructure. Embeds approval gates, RBAC models, policy enforcement, and automated compliance checks aligned to organisational standards.
  • Engineering Standards and Tooling: Develops reusable code components, automation scripts, engineering guidelines, and documentation supporting platform-wide consistency. Contributes to the maturity of DevOps capabilities across the digital estate.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Evaluates emerging technologies, automation opportunities, and modern DevOps practices. Introduces improvements that enhance delivery velocity, operational resilience, and system sustainability
Key Requirements
  • Experience Level: Requires 5–10 years of experience in DevOps engineering, software development, cloud engineering, or integration delivery within complex, multi-system digital environments.
  • Technical Engineering Expertise: Demonstrable background in software development using C#, .NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, combined with experience building APIs and CI/CD pipelines within Azure DevOps. Comfortable operating across complex, multi-tier architectures.
  • Digital Transformation Delivery: Experience contributing to large-scale digital transformation programmes, including legacy system modernisation, cloud adoption, platform consolidation, and introduction of enterprisewide automation.
  • ERP and CRM Platform Expertise: Practical experience across Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement and at least one ERP solution, with strong understanding of ALM processes, environment strategies, integration patterns, and end-to-end delivery models.
  • SQL and Data Platform Proficiency: Strong familiarity with SQL development, optimisation, performance tuning, ETL processes, and data integration workflows in enterprise environments.
  • Azure Cloud Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, API Management, Key Vault, Azure SQL, identity and access controls, and Infrastructure-as-Code tooling.
  • Integration Design and Delivery: Proven capability designing secure, scalable integrations using REST, SOAP, event-driven architectures, and hybrid connectivity methods.
  • Agile Delivery Experience: Experience operating within Agile DSDM or Scrum frameworks, supporting sprint ceremonies, backlog refinement, release planning, and multi-disciplinary collaboration.
