Thales Software DevOps Engineering Role

Thales people architect solutions relied upon to deliver operational advantage at every decisive moment throughout missions. Defence and armed forces customers depend on us for comprehensive defensive systems across land, sea, and air. Our platforms range from early warning to threat neutralisation, covering all levels from very short-range systems to extended protection across the entire battle-space, including Airspace Mobility Solutions, Vehicles and Tactical Systems, Missile Defence, Optronics, and Radar.

Thales Belgium SA, the Belgium competence center of Thales, operates on two sites: one in Tubize (near Brussels) and another in Herstal (near Liège). Employing over 280 staff, Thales Belgium specializes in designing, developing, and supplying critical information systems for Defence, Security (including Cyber), and Aerospace sectors.

Candidate Profile
  • Graduated with a Master of Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Proven experience in Agile or DevOps teams
  • Enjoy working within an Agile environment requiring reactivity and resourcefulness
  • Interested in managing applications from development to incident management, including automated testing, deployment, live monitoring, and KPI tracking
  • Committed to continuous improvement and sharing a compelling vision
Core Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps, digital stacks, and Cloud Platforms (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
  • Understanding of Networking, Cybersecurity basics, and privacy for modern applications
  • Deep knowledge of containers and orchestration tools (Docker, Helm, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with automation and industrialization methods (programming languages, scripting in Go, Python, Bash)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab, Github Actions) and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Ability to monitor applications, set alerts, and manage incidents (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
Nice to Have

Specific domain knowledge as determined by Engineering Manager or Talent Acquisition.

Role Responsibilities
  • Participate in daily meetings and recurring team events
  • Regularly deliver and deploy application increments, presenting to stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines
  • Ensure applications operate normally, setting appropriate alert thresholds
  • Monitor feature usage and react swiftly to production issues, analyzing root causes for continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with team members to share knowledge and grow technical skills
