Job summary

Solos Consultants Ltd in Leicestershire is seeking an experienced Assistant Engineer to join our Development Approvals team on a temporary basis. The role focuses on the technical review of Section 38 and Section 278 highway submissions to ensure designs meet national and local standards.

You will assess developer designs against DMRB, Manual for Streets, and related highway standards; liaise with developers, consultants and internal teams; support site inspections and monitor construction; and

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with S38/S278 applications and development approvals.
• Strong knowledge of highway design, adoption processes, and construction standards.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver practical technical advice.
• Qualifications such as HNC, HND, or a degree in Civil Engineering are desirable, but relevant experience in development approvals is key.
