Job description

Development and Calibration Engineer, Norwich

Based in Alzenau, near Frankfurt/M. in Germany, Hyundai Motorsport GmbH is responsible for Hyundai's global motorsport activities.

We are currently looking for a creative Development and Calibration Engineer working within the Testing and Simulation Team. You will be involved in powertrain system thermo-fluids modelling and performance analysis to help us produce a world-class product that will give a competitive advantage.

Responsibilities
  • Powertrain calibration at the test bench and, if required, on the race track
  • Define test procedures for each new powertrain item, software, or hardware; oversee the realization of tests
  • Optimize engine calibration and strategies for maximum performance and reliability
  • Provide innovative solutions to engineering challenges that benefit our product
  • Evaluate and analyze concepts independently as part of a team
  • Collaborate closely with the development of end products
  • Create and validate novel engineering solutions autonomously
  • Develop robust and versatile models for innovation
  • Work with skilled engineers to identify problems and create solutions to deliver a world-class product
  • Enhance engineering skills through challenging tasks
Qualifications
  • Master's or PhD in a relevant engineering field, including ICE
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in high-performance or motorsport powertrain
  • Experience with hybrid powertrains is advantageous
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art TC-DI engine development, focusing on powertrain test bench calibration and development
  • Experience with modern automated test equipment
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages
  • Strong manual dexterity and practical skills
  • Formula SAE experience is highly preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of ICE/powertrain testing and metrology
  • Understanding of internal combustion engine and powertrain fundamentals
  • Experience with test bench automation, combustion analysis, and CAN bus architecture
  • Proficiency with data post-processing tools (e.g., Wintax, ATLAS)
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of German is a plus or willingness to learn
