Job summary

Carrington West is recruiting for a Development Management - Team Leader role in the South West on a 6-month contract. You will lead a Development Management team, ensuring visible, supportive day-to-day leadership and effective case handling.

You will conduct one-to-ones, reviews, manage workloads, oversee capacity and risks, and provide professional guidance on complex planning cases. Hybrid working and 37 hours per week are offered.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible, accessible and supportive day-to-day leadership of the Development Management team.

• Maintain oversight of team capacity, workloads, performance pressures and risks.
• Provide guidance and escalation for complex or high-risk planning cases.
• Support Head of Planning Services with staffing, performance and operational matters.

• Provide visible, accessible and supportive day-to-day leadership of the Development Management team.
• Hold effective one-to-ones, caseload reviews and performance discussions.
• Support individual officers to manage workloads, priorities and application timescales effectively.
• Maintain oversight of team capacity, workloads, performance pressures and operational risks, escalating issues where necessary.
• Provide professional guidance and act as an escalation point for complex, sensitive or high-risk planning cases.
• Provide additional leadership capacity to the Head of Planning Services, including assistance with staffing, performance and operational matters.

Role Specific

• Hourly rate - approx. £65 per hour
• Local Authority experience.

Carrington West Pay Rate - up to £65ph

Pay range: £55-65p/h
