Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Development Management Team Leader to provide day-to-day leadership with a hybrid working pattern in the South West. The role supports officers, reviews caseloads, and ensures timely decisions across planning applications on a 37-hour week contract.

Applicants should have Local Authority planning experience and the ability to guide complex cases while supporting the Head of Planning Services with staffing and performance matters.

Qualifications

• Provide visible, accessible day-to-day leadership of the Development Management team.

• Maintain oversight of team capacity, workloads, risks and escalate issues as needed.

• Provide visible, accessible and supportive day-to-day leadership of the Development Management team.
• Hold effective one-to-ones, caseload reviews and performance discussions.
• Support individual officers to manage workloads, priorities and application timescales effectively.
• Maintain oversight of team capacity, workloads, performance pressures and operational risks, escalating issues where necessary.
• Provide professional guidance and act as an escalation point for complex, sensitive or high-risk planning cases.
• Provide additional leadership capacity to the Head of Planning Services, including assistance with staffing, performance and operational matters.
