Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Development Management Team Leader to provide day-to-day leadership with a hybrid working pattern in the South West. The role supports officers, reviews caseloads, and ensures timely decisions across planning applications on a 37-hour week contract.

Applicants should have Local Authority planning experience and the ability to guide complex cases while supporting the Head of Planning Services with staffing and performance matters.

Qualifications

• Provide visible, accessible day-to-day leadership of the Development Management team.
• Hold effective one-to-ones, caseload reviews and performance discussions.
• Support officers to manage workloads, priorities and application timescales.
• Maintain oversight of team capacity, workloads, risks and escalate issues as needed.
• Offer professional guidance and escalation for complex or high-risk planning cases.
• Assist Head of Planning Services with staffing and performance matters.

Responsibilities

• Hybrid working arrangement for the role.
• 37 hours per week.
• Hourly rate around £65 per hour.
• Experience within a Local Authority setting in planning.
