Qualifications

Job Overview

General Dynamics Land Systems is seeking a full‑time Desktop Support Technician to join our IT Team.

Base salary £25,500, commensurate with experience.

Position located at Oakdale and Merthyr facilities, providing first and second line support across these sites and remote users.

Responsibilities
  • Day‑to‑day IT support and maintenance, managing incidents and requests through the ITSM tool.
  • Administration of Active Directory, Exchange, Microsoft 365 and handling new starters and leavers.
  • Troubleshoot local network issues (cable patching, connectivity) and support end‑user devices and accounts.
  • Build PCs and laptops using SCCM; support hardware refresh and Windows upgrades.
  • Co‑ordinate change control procedures for all IT changes.
  • Liaise with IT Shared Services on central issues and new device/infrastructure set‑up.
  • Manage mobile device provisioning and tracking via Intune.
  • Monitor the help desk queue across all sites and record ad‑hoc/emergency tasks.
  • Work with the Cyber Security team to apply security actions and maintain restrictions.
  • Manage customer expectations and provide timely communication.
  • Perform network support, cable patching, connectivity troubleshooting, and application patching/deployment.
