Plan A Digital is seeking a Linux Desktop Support Engineer in Central London with hybrid work options. You will own the endpoint environment, focusing on Linux/Ubuntu while supporting macOS and Windows, and drive automation across SRE practices.

The role demands hands-on Linux administration, proficiency with Ansible, Jamf or Intune, and scripting in Bash/Python/PowerShell, with strong networking fundamentals and a passion for infrastructure automation.

Qualifications

Our client, a FinTech business, is looking for a Linux Desktop Support Engineer to help them build mission-critical connectivity infrastructure for global financial markets. They are looking for a hands-on engineer to join their Site Reliability Engineering team, taking ownership of the endpoint environment used by their engineering teams while developing broader Linux, automation and infrastructure skills.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone from an endpoint, desktop engineering or systems support background who already has strong hands-on Linux experience and wants to progress further into SRE.

The Role

You will work across Linux/Ubuntu, macOS and Windows, with a particular focus on Linux environments.

• Provisioning, configuring and rebuilding Linux, macOS and Windows laptops and workstations
• Supporting employee onboarding and resolving desktop and endpoint issues
• Maintaining Linux developer workstations and shared engineering devices
• Managing endpoint and configuration tooling including Ansible, Jamf and Intune
• Troubleshooting Ubuntu/Linux systems through the command line
• Managing device lifecycle, hardware and office technology
• Automating repetitive tasks using scripting and configuration management
• Improving provisioning, rebuild and operational processes
• Troubleshooting network and connectivity issues

What We Are Looking For

• Strong endpoint, desktop engineering, workplace technology or systems support experience
• Good hands-on Linux/Ubuntu administration and troubleshooting
• Experience supporting macOS and Windows environments
• Laptop provisioning, configuration and rebuild experience
• Experience with Ansible, Jamf, Intune or similar tooling
• Confidence working through the Linux CLI
• Bash, Python, PowerShell or similar scripting experience
• Good networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP
• A structured, methodical approach to troubleshooting
• Genuine enthusiasm for Linux, infrastructure and automation
