MLabs Ltd. in London is seeking a Linux Desktop Support Engineer to join the Site Reliability Engineering team.

The role focuses on managing internal devices, supporting workplace technology, and maintaining office infrastructure with a strong emphasis on Ubuntu/Linux environments. You will own provisioning, onboarding, and hardware provisioning, ensuring pairing stations and devices run reliably while leveraging automation to streamline support processes in a hands-on, high-performance

Qualifications

• Hands-on desktop engineering or IT support experience.
• Strong troubleshooting with Ubuntu/Linux as a focus.
• Experience with macOS and Windows platforms.
• Experience with endpoint management tools such as Ansible, Jamf, and Intune.

Responsibilities

• Own provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of Linux, macOS, and Windows devices.
• Support employee onboarding technical setups and act as desktop support contact.
• Maintain pairing stations, Linux laptops, kiosk devices, and automated rebuild workflows.
• Administer endpoint management tooling and provisioning workflows.
• Oversee hardware purchasing, validation, and upkeep of office equipment.
• Drive process improvements via CLI, scripting, and automation.
• Support office infrastructure and basic networking troubleshooting.

Compensation: £50K - £60K

We are hiring on behalf of our client, a dynamic financial technology organization who is seeking a Linux Desktop Support Engineer to join its Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team in London. This position focuses on managing internal devices, supporting workplace technology, and maintaining office infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on Ubuntu/Linux environments.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting employee onboarding, provisioning hardware, keeping developer and pairing stations running reliably, and leveraging automation to streamline support processes. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, technical individual looking to own workplace technology within a high-performance engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of Linux, macOS, and Windows devices.
• Manage employee onboarding technical setups and serve as the primary point of contact for desktop support.
• Maintain pairing stations, Linux laptops, kiosk devices, and automated rebuild workflows.
• Administer endpoint management and provisioning tooling, including Ansible, Jamf, and Intune.
• Oversee the purchasing, validation, and upkeep of hardware, machines, and shared office engineering equipment.
• Drive continuous process improvements and reduce recurring technical issues through CLI work, scripting, and task automation.
• Support physical office infrastructure and handle basic networking troubleshooting as required.

• Hands-on experience managing desktop engineering, workplace technology, or high-level IT support within a technical environment.
• Strong troubleshooting expertise with a primary focus on Ubuntu/Linux, alongside working knowledge of macOS and Windows platforms.
• Hands-on experience with endpoint management tools such as Ansible, Jamf, and Intune.
• Proficiency with CLI operations, scripting, provisioning/rebuild workflows, and core networking fundamentals.
• A deep interest in Linux operating systems, including familiarity with or exposure to various Linux distributions.
• A proactive, self-sufficient approach with a willingness to own physical office tech hardware and infrastructure.
• Ability to work on-site at the Moorgate, London office on a regular hybrid basis (at least 1+ days per week)
