Job Title: Desktop Engineer – Windows 11 Migration Support
Location: Midlands (UK) – Field-Based
Contract Type: 12-month contract
Start Date: ASAP
Clearance: BPSS Required
Rate: £163.00p/d
Role Overview:
Our client is undertaking a significant Windows 11 migration project and is looking for 2 experienced Desktop Engineers to support deployments across multiple UK office locations across a 12-month contract. This role will involve installs, de-installs, and basic desktop support, with the occasional requirement to assist with office clearances or IT relocations. Additional duties may occasionally include office clearances and general IT hardware support.
Key Responsibilities:
* Installation and de-installation of desktop and laptop hardware.
* Support and execution of Windows 11 upgrade and deployment processes.
* Collection and return of IT equipment to/from Midlands-based depots.
* Occasional assistance with office moves and IT equipment clearance.
* Ensure documentation and asset tracking are accurately maintained.
* Liaise with on-site teams and project managers to deliver seamless support.
Essential Requirements:
* Proven experience in desktop engineering roles, including OS migrations (ideally Windows 10 to 11).
* Strong knowledge of hardware troubleshooting and deployment best practices.
* BPSS clearance (or eligibility and willingness to undergo it).
* Full UK driving licence, access to own vehicle and willingness to travel UK wide as required.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Location Requirement:
* This role is ideally suited to candidates based in the Midlands, as regular collection and return of equipment will be required at local depots.
Contract Details:
* 12 month contract
* UK wide travel – hotels to be provided where required
* Monday to Friday day work
* £163 per day including 100 miles travel per day
* Additional mileage paid at 30ppm
* Outside IR35
