Job summary

Halfords, the UK's leading motoring and cycling retailer, seeks a Designate Centre Manager to support local autocentres within a travel area while guiding centre teams and delivering outstanding customer experiences.

You will lead with an engaging coaching style, drive KPIs and profitability, ensure H&S compliance, and develop the team to eventually run your own designated centre. Opportunities for progression and training are highlighted throughout the process.

Qualifications

  • Leadership in automotive or similar industry.
  • Experience delivering high customer satisfaction and effective management.
  • Coaching-based approach to team development and on-the-job training.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience of managing P&L and optimizing profit.
  • Experience of meeting Health and Safety compliance standards.
  • Experience with high sales turnover and KPI management.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • IT proficiency and willingness to learn in-house systems.
  • A current valid driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support local autocentre teams within a reasonable travel area.
  • Motivate and coach in-centre staff to achieve targets and maintain service standards.
  • Drive exceptional customer experience and ensure safety and compliance.
  • Collaborate with management to improve performance and centre profitability.
  • Position may lead to running an allocated centre when a vacancy arises.

A newly created role within our Autocentre business, our Designate centre managers will be a vital support to our management team. As a Designate centre manager, you will be supporting local centres within the area within a reasonable travel time and leading the in centre teams with support, encouragement, and motivation. No two days are the same so you will need to be open to change, adaptable, and ensure that the team are on board and motivated to constantly move forwards with the everchanging environment that adapts to meet our customers’ needs and demands. This experience will set you up to successfully run your own allocated centre when an appropriate vacancy arises.

  • On-target earnings up to £56,600
  • Comprising a base salary of £45,000
  • An uncapped monthly bonus scheme with average additional earnings of £11,600 per year.

Skills and experience
  • Fantastic leadership and team management skills within the automotive or similar industry
  • Experience delivering high customer satisfaction and displaying effective management.
  • Engaging and motivational, coaching-based approach to team development and able to provide in the moment training.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience of managing P&L and optimizing profit
  • Experience of meeting compliance standards across Health and Safety
