Job summary

Principal Recruitment is seeking a reliable Design & Technology Technician to join a secondary school in London. You will prepare materials, maintain equipment and ensure that workshops are safe, well organised and well equipped to support practical DT lessons.

This hands-on role involves supporting teachers with practical activities, checking stock, and helping uphold health and safety standards so students can learn confidently in a collaborative, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting DT lessons in a school environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials, tools, equipment and resources for Design & Technology lessons.
• Support teaching staff with the preparation and organisation of practical activities.
• Maintain, clean and organise DT workshops, classrooms, machinery and equipment.
• Ensure that tools, machinery and equipment are used and stored safely.
• Carry out routine checks and report any faults, damage or maintenance requirements.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering materials and supplies.
• Support the implementation of health and safety procedures and risk assessments.
• Assist with the safe disposal of waste and the upkeep of workshop areas.
• Provide general technical and practical support to the DT department.
