Job summary

Principal Education is seeking a reliable Design & Technology (DT) Technician for a secondary school. You will prepare materials, maintain equipment and help ensure workshops and classrooms are safe, organised and well equipped.

This role supports practical DT lessons and requires a practical, hands-on approach, good organisation and teamwork. Training may be provided where needed to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.

Qualifications

• Hands-on interest in Design & Technology
• Organised, reliable and able to manage competing priorities
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Team player with initiative
• Appreciates health and safety in a workshop environment
• Willing to learn new skills and develop technical knowledge
• Previous experience in a school DT department or workshop is a plus but training may be provided

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials, tools, equipment and resources for Design & Technology lessons.
• Support teaching staff with preparation and organisation of practical activities.
• Maintain, clean and organise DT workshops, classrooms, machinery and equipment.
• Ensure tools, machinery and equipment are used and stored safely.
• Carry out routine checks and report faults or maintenance needs.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering materials and supplies.
• Support health and safety procedures and risk assessments.
• Assist with safe disposal of waste and upkeep of workshop areas.
• Provide general technical and practical support to the DT department
