Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Design Technology Teacher for a mainstream secondary school in Sunderland. The role is full-time and long-term with an immediate start or January 2027 start date.

You will deliver engaging lessons across Resistant Materials, Woodwork and Art & Design to KS3 and KS4, including planning, marking and ongoing assessments, supporting students to build practical and creative skills.

Qualifications

• Must have QTS / Qualified Teacher Status (ECTs welcome).
• Experience teaching Design Technology across Key Stage 3 and 4 (KS3/KS4).
• Strong subject knowledge in Resistant Materials, Woodwork and Art & Design.
• Experience planning, delivering and marking lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Positive, adaptable approach to engaging and inspiring students.

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a mainstream secondary school based in Sunderland, who are looking to appoint a Design Technology Teacher. The school provides education to students across Key Stage 3 / KS3 and Key Stage 4 / KS4, offering opportunities for students to develop their creative, technical and practical skills through Design Technology.

The school is looking to take on a dedicated Design Technology Teacher on a full-time, long-term basis, with an Immediate Start or January 2027 start date available. The successful Design Technology Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons across Resistant Materials, Woodwork and Art & Design, including full planning, preparation, marking and assessment responsibilities.

The successful Design Technology Teacher will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status / QTS (ECTs are also welcome to apply)
• Experience teaching Design Technology across Key Stage 3 / KS3 and Key Stage 4 / KS4
• Strong subject knowledge in Resistant Materials, Woodwork and Art & Design
• Experience planning, delivering and marking lessons in line with the National Curriculum
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills
• A positive, adaptable approach with the ability to engage and inspire students
